Beginner Obedience is for the handler and/or dog who are new to training. You will work on focus activities, recalls, sits, downs, stays, proper heel position. Bring a tug toy and LOTS of soft treats, cut into pea-sized portions (light colored treats, like white cheese, cheese balls, hot dogs, etc.)

She has earned 13 Utility Dog titles on her dogs, showing in the US and Canada. She has won multiple High in Trial and High Combined awards. Her current dog, a Border Collie, has earned a Super Dog title by winning titles in obedience, rally, agility, weight pull, lure coursing, dock jumping and conformation. Lorraine is also a licensed UKC obedience judge. She has put titles on Shetland Sheepdogs, a German Shorthaired Pointer, a Golden Retriever, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and a Border Collie. Puppy Class is suitable for all puppies 10 weeks of age and older. We will also accept "new to the handler" dogs, such as rescue dogs who need experience.

This class focuses on building the relationship between dog and owner. Puppies will learn: attention to handler, sit, down, stand, come when called, walk on a loose leash, retrieving. We will also accustom the puppies to beginning agility equipment such as tunnels and boards.

Students should bring a large plastic dish full of yummy, soft treats cut into VERY small pieces (Cheese, meatballs, hotdogs, cooked chicken all work well. Pieces should be the size of a small pea.  They will need at least a half pound to a pound, depending on the size of puppy.)

Do NOT feed puppies the morning of class. A hungry puppy is easier to train, as they will be excited when they see the other puppies.

***Members are welcome to drop in at any time in the Saturday Puppy Class***
